About

Hi, I’m Yixuan, a software engineer based in London.

I’m broadly interested in software engineering and human-computer(/cat) interaction. Working code isn’t enough; it should be friendly to users and developers alike. That belief shapes most of what I do, whether it’s an interface, an API, or a commit message.

At work, I develop a desktop application whose tech stack has gone through something of an identity crisis over the past two years: from Qt and C++, to React and TypeScript in Electron, and most recently to React and Rust in Tauri. I’m glad it continues to evolve; I’ve always been drawn to the web stack, and I appreciate the memory safety that Rust brings. Working through these transitions has given me a close look at how architectural priorities and trade-offs change over time.

Outside work, I build things with AI and think about what it changes, and what it doesn’t. This website is one of those things; the posts tell that story better than I can summarise here.

Beyond code, I love travelling, although there has been much less time for it since I started working. Cats, books, photography, and music are some of the things that keep me going between trips. The photography part has its own home on this site: the Gallery.

Thanks for stopping by. If anything here overlaps with your world, say hello through the social links in the footer.
